Karl Lagerfeld Loves Anna Piaggi…..

The Fashion Week runaway train has taken off all over the world…….with so many outfits to be seen outside the shows let alone on the the runway, it’s best you put your highest heels on……..Looking at the street style photos from New York, London and Milan, I started to miss the wonders of Anna Piaggi…….although her current style, clearly inspired the latest Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 collection just shown in New York……..there was a book released in the 1980′s, an all time favourite, ” Anna Piaggi, Karl Lagerfeld – Journal de Mode”, which is really an illustrated love letter from Karl to Anna….whose personal style was such an integral influence on him in the 1970′s through out his Chloé days….it’s these collections I love the most, with a small collection growing of my own…….to look at each piece is to think of Anna Piaggi, Death in Venice and of course Karl Lagerfeld for he was living his Jacobean dream at that time…..not that Anna ever wore Chloé! She was strictly 1890′s……….her incredible Belle Epoque velvet coats….her 1920′s flapper dresses….worn with the whimsy and imagination that could only come from her…..I love that she like, Zandra Rhodes, Anna Della Russo, journalist Lyn Yaeger, love fashion and style for the sake of fashion and style……..her wardrobe was the subject of a show at the V & A in 2006……something I can not begin to imagine, for the expanse of her collection would be on par with the Metropolitan Museum in New York……….she has styled under the best editor in chiefs in the last 40 years of Vogues around the world…..but her best work is herself……every time….for her kind of spirit can’t be bought, this lady is a true original…..
